A Modest Offering

A Modest Offering

Merry Christmas, one and all! This Christmas, I offer my own version of the little drummer boy’s song.

On that first, crisp Christmas night

God bathed the earth in sacred light,

And love itself midst tears and pain

Was born and in a manger lain —

Emanuel, God’s precious lamb,

Anointed One, the great I AM.

Each one of us before and since

Owes our life to the infant Prince.

Like prophets from past times till now

We shout for joy, then humbly bow,

And worship with the low and wise,

The newborn God of earths and skies.
